Boogs started diving in 2009, and has logged hundreds of dives since. Boogs developed a strong fascination for marine life at an early age. By sharing his photos, he hopes to raise environmental awareness among non-divers and to instill in them a deeper appreciation for nature.
Boogs currently uses a Nikon D7000 in Sea & Sea housing with 2 Sea & Sea strobes and Ultralight arms. He shoots with a Tokina 10-17mm for wide angle and a Nikkor 60mm F2.8 for macro. He enjoys shooting wide angle above all else, but spends most of his weekends shooting macro in Anilao.
Boogs won 1st place in Wide Angle under the Compact Camera Category during the first annual SNUPS, a prestigious underwater photo tournament held in the Philippines. He was also awarded 2nd place overall in the Open Category during SNUPS 2012. His work has been featured in several magazines and exhibits.
When not underwater, Boogs works as an IT consultant and is also a co-founder of the Network of Underwater Digital Imagers, Inc. – a non-stock and non-profit association based in Manila, Philippines, composed of scuba divers who aim to promote underwater photography and videography in support of environmental consciousness and conservation.
