UWP: STEVE JONES

STEVE JONES
Steve is an underwater photographer & journalist based in the UK.  As a diving instructor since the age of 21, Steve spent most of the 90’s working as a professional dive guide, spending thousands of hours underwater in the Indian Ocean, Caribbean and North Atlantic.  During this time his knowledge of the underwater world and how to photograph it increased exponentially. Specializing in guiding professional underwater photographers, and having worked with some of the best in the business, it was not long before Steve’s own imagery was recognised, and since 1996 his award-winning work has been extensively published in over 25 countries.  Steve is an all-rounder as both a diver and photographer, and is equally at home in deep, cold water as he is in the tropics. He has operated worldwide from remote areas of the Pacific to the Polar regions. A passionate conservationist, Steve is a member of the Ocean Artists Society, a group of filmmakers, artists and photographers that share the common goal of using art to inspire a greater awareness of the need to preserve the natural world. More of Steve’s work can be seen at www.millionfish.com

It is estimated that around 73 million sharks are slaughtered every year to supply the demand for shark fin soup.  Many species will become extinct in our lifetime unless this practice is stopped now.  If you care, please visit the Shark Trust
