YeeHoo Wai comes from the State of Sabah, Malaysia where all the beautiful islands such as Sipadan, Mabul and Kapalai are located. Wai almost gave up scuba diving during his PADI Open Water course in 2010 because he wasn't prepared for it both physically and mentally that time. He is grateful to his instructor and teacher, Tim Ho, who told him not to give up and continue on to get himself certified as a scuba diver.
In 2011, Wai decided to start learning underwater photography from Tim. He started off with a Canon IXUS 120IS compact camera, and then upgraded to a Canon G15 two years later. He is currently using an Olympus OMD EM5 in Nauticam housing.
Wai joined his first ever underwater photography competition during the 2nd Anilao Underwater Photo Competition in 2014 and he won the Best Macro Compact class category. He also got himself a 3rd place portfolio DOT Photographer of the Year in Compact class.
Presently, Wai’s main passion is in macro photography. When he is not diving and photographing the UW critters, he will be busy searching for insects and bugs to shoot. He regularly posts his photos on his Facebook:
